We did it!

After us complaining about our clothes not fitting like they used too, my friend Katie and I decided to jump on board of the "Couch to 5K" regime! Last night was our first one and all I have to say is that I had NO idea a minute was so long when you're running! I know, pathetic...but for those of us that have NEVER run, 20 minutes of alternating running and walking is quite a feat! You walk the first 90 seconds and then run the next 60 seconds...for a total of 20 minutes. Sounds easy enough! RIGHT!!! You do this 3x the first week and then it changes up a bit! I have to say that after the first run, side cramp and all, it did get a little better, not worse as I dreaded! I have to say a HUGE thank you to Steve who took care of the dogs while we were running and would yell out "Ok...on your mark, get set ... RUN!" A few times we thought he'd said "WALK", but he was SURE to not let us get away with that!!! What a great personal trainer! No short cuts for Sir Steve! When we would run, the dogs thought it was fun to run with us. In theory, this is a great idea, but the cute little things kept getting all tangled up in our feet. Anyway, thanks to Steve and Katie, I survived and came away feeling a little bit better about myself! I will keep you posted on how the rest of the week goes. Wish me luck!!!!

more power to you on all that.... i did about a week and a half, but then the heat wave hit, and i wasn't willing to get up before the sun to do my running. i'll resume when things cool down a bit. and yah, i hear you on how much harder 1 minute of running is than you think it will be. they tricked us!
