Ferret cont...

This is Ferret. AKA, my husband! We met at Forest Home Christian Camps 7 years ago. More specifically at Indian Village, the camp for 3rd and 4th graders. The tradition for all staff counselors is to have an “Indian” name that they choose for themselves. In fact, it’s a big secret as to what their real name is. To this day, we still refer to people from camp with their “Indian” name. Steve chose “Ferret” and for the first year and a half, I had no idea what his real name was! The reason I’m bringing this up now is that Steve is “Ferret” again for a week! He had the great opportunity to go back to Indian Village and be a Tribal Chief. The highest position below being the Village Chief! He basically oversees about 50 boys and 5 church counselors. He leads the table talks and activities and everything in between! He left on Sunday and will return Saturday. I had the honor to speak with him last night and I hardly recognized the voice on the other end. After one day back at camp, he had almost lost his voice! He was so excited to be given this chance again, and I think it will be such a refreshing change to dealing with computers and their owners! I can’t wait to hear all about his time and all the young children whose hearts were impacted for the Lord. He is such an amazing man; he’s incredible with kids and is quite possibly the coolest “ferret” around!

Oh, good question! My "Indian" name was Umtali.
It's the little town in Zimbabwe where I was born. After Independence, it was renamed Mutare! It was bombed 3 times during the Rhodesian Bush War and my first 6 weeks were spent in a bunker underground! Apparently the first night I ever slept through the night, we were bombed!
Thanks for asking!!!!
