Bits 'n Pieces

We have had a good few weeks since I last wrote. My mom's arm surgery went well, and she is recovering nicely! My folks just received the "important" package in one piece, that included all their immigration documents that needed their signatures. Ironically, my sister sent a get-well card which arrived today as well, however her's had been opened and resealed "officially". Praise the Lord it was not my package!!!

We are gearing up for Mammoth...there's been tons of snow, so it should be a wonderful time! I picked up my friends snowboard that I will be borrowing, and I have boots, and we have a GREAT deal on the lift tickets, so all-in-all, it's been a really cost effective trip!

Attached are some photos from the last week or so. Domino, in all her glory! She really is a beautiful dog and so entertaining. Also, a picture of Steve and I at our favorite restuarant - The Pasta Connection. It's so sad, as it's been in business forever, but the City of Newport is tearing the whole strip down to build bigger, better offices/restuarants. Since the owners aren't exactly sure when their last day is, we decided to go back and enjoy it. It's the spot of our first date, all major milestones, birthdays, anniversaries, the day Steve proposed, our first dinner after coming back from our honeymoon etc. It's such a sweet little hole in the wall, but has a special place in our hearts! Deb and little Jacob joined us, which made it fun!!

Finally, a picture of me VOTING! For the first time!!!!!!!!! My heart was pounding as I spun the wheel around to select the candidates and props I wanted! I was so nervous I'd select the wrong one!! I HAD to take a photo to document the special day! You can barely see my "I VOTED" sticker, but it's there! Until next time, have a GREAT week!

So, did you vote?

Isn't it sad when smaller businesses get booted out of real estate? Cherry Creek North (one of our favorite areas) used to have a lot of independent, local stores. But they jacked up the prices so they could bring in more big name stores. So yeah, it's great we have Crate & Barrel there, but the best bookstore Tattered Cover, had to move out. Now they are also putting up high priced condos. If they take out the Squealin' Pig (a fun little pub) I'll cry.

I can't wait until I get to vote. But I'm confused about this wheel and props. What's that about?

Thanks for commenting! I LOVE the name 'tattered cover'! So cute!
Anyway, you can either use a paper ballot or the computerized one, instead of a touch screen, it's a wheel that turns and high-lights the selected items. You then hit "enter" to approve your selection. The propositions this time for california were about indian gaming, college funding & traffic funding. Hope that helps!!

Picking the "wrong one"? Do you mean a candidate who will fail the country, or simply choosing the wrong bubble?

My entire voting career has been one big hanging chad.
