Pray for Zimbabwe

Please pray for Zimbabwe & it's people, as tomorrow is their Election Day, and in the past, the votes have been rigged and there has been so much violence. The least these people deserve is a fair and safe election! Mugabe has been in power for 28yrs now, and has sent this country into ruin, with millions homeless, jobless without food and without the basic necessities in life.

On a very personal note, please pray for our dear friends, Rev. Joe and his wife and their 2 boys. He was my dad's assistant pastor, until we moved to SA and then he became the Sr. Pastor. I babysat his boys, and his family is amazing, doing the Lords work. I would never ask people to help out financially, unless i REALLY felt it was important. He's said that getting food on the table is a daily struggle. Here is a snippet of his last email, even though times are TOUGH, their faith is unfaltering.

The work at Holy Trinity church is going strong. The Sunday school is a great
encouragement to us. Items for prayer: The elections on the 29th of March 2008.The vestry meeting for the church on the 13th of April 2008. My great appreciation for your willingness to want to assist us financially. If you can assist us on a monthly or bimonthly basis as the good Lord leads and enables, you will be a great windfall in our life as a family. We are not sure how things will turn out after elections. I'll keep you posted.

Steve and I are committing to help them as much as we can. If you or anyone you know would like to help, PLEASE let me know!

Thank you for your prayers!!!

Having a Picnik

Herewith are some examples of the fun I have been having with Picnik. It's so awesome and I just love it!!! If I knew how to make the word "Picnik" an active link, I would, but I don't, so if you want to play, you're going to have to google it!! There is an option to doodle over the photo's, and so yesterday, I gave Steve bunny ears and abright pink bunny nose in the Easter pic below (Steve and Kaela's photo). started looking messy so i deleted it, although it did give me a good little chuckle!!

So, have a picnik and ENJOY! I want to see your examples!!

I want to go back!

In fact, I’m looking into the possibilities! We had such a fantastic time up at Mammoth. The 6 of us were in stitches constantly. The drive up was beautiful and so much fun. We barely stopped for breath we were all talking so much. Becca and I spent almost 4 hours sharing “our” stories, on how we met, how our men proposed etc. When we did stop for breath, the guys had been talking about who knows what, when Alex asks Steve, “So, where did you guys meet?”
Steve replied “At Forest Home”
Alex ‘Cool”
Steve “What about you?”
Alex “Woodbridge Ski Trip”
Steve ‘Cool”
THEE END!!!!!!!!!!!
It was hilarious, guys and girls are so different!

Anyway, we met up with Jim and Rach at Schatts Bakery in Bishop and caravanned into Mammoth together. It was snowing when we got there and was just so spectacular. We stopped at the store to get some food and then headed to our cabin. We got ready for dinner and then left to eat at Angels. It was quite a wait so we stopped at the Board shop so Steve could have his snowboard waxed, Alex and Jim both had to get gear too. After a yummy dinner we headed back to the cabin. The guys started Black Hawk Down while the girls got ready for bed. The guys did not last long, as no more than 30 minutes into the movie they decided to call it a night. We were up bright and early, excited to hit the slopes. The weather was beautiful as it was constantly snowing, dropping off fresh powder. It was a bit of a late start once we actually got to the mountain, but we hit the slopes and all had a great time. I just LOVED snowboarding even more this time, and went down my run nine times. I would have done more if a) the mountain wasn’t about to close and b) I had remembered to meet Steve at 3:30, not 3 (my bad) to go with him on a longer run. (long story…miscommunication, totally my bad!!! Haha) That’s partly why I want to go again as he and I didn’t get to do as many together. But, at the end of the day, we just had such a great time!! We got back to cabin and the girls relaxed near the fire, reading our magazines, while the guys finished their manly war movie. When we got up to get dinner ready, the guys took over our super comfy spots. Those photos are just so hysterical!! They were having such a blast, reading from the magazines, it was hilarious!! After lasagna and salad, we played several rounds of Balderdash, which was also pretty funny. We had birthday cake for dessert for Becca’s b-day and ice-cream, which was a prefect way to end the evening. We hit the hay, and decided to play it by ear in the morning, whether the guys would go on the mountain again. We woke up to the most peaceful snowfall, just flittering down. Since the powder was obviously super fresh, the guys decided they could NOT pass up the opportunity to go again. We all agreed, make the most of it while you can! Rach needed to study, so she did that, while Becca and I watched Never Been Kissed, such a funny movie! ‘I HAVE NO WORDS!!” haha-love that! After that we to put our snow gear on, and decided to brave the cold and walk to the village and take the gondola to the lodge and back. It was so pretty outside, albeit freezing and pretty slick. We almost ate it a few times, which only made it funnier!! We grabbed some starbucks and enjoyed the scenic gondola ride over the trees! We made it back and started to clean up when the guys walked in. They had SUCH a blast! Steve described the one moment he had, turning a bend through the trees, where the snow was so high and fluffy, it looked like a wave he was surfing! I WISH I could have seen that!!! After eating leftover lasagna for lunch, we packed up the cars and headed on our way home. We stopped at Convict Lake (see pictures below), which was just stunning. Seeing the little fox coming to get a drink in the stream was such a treat! He was so handsome! It ended up being a pretty late night by the time we got home, but it was worth EVERY Second!!!!!

Did I mention that I want to go back…

The Latest

A few Fridays ago, Steve’s Mom (or Mom H) and I went to hear Michael Franzese at our church. Steve and his dad were on an annual men’s ski-trip, so unfortunately were unable to join us, as I’m sure they would have loved it. I’ve always thought the mob was such a fascinating way of life, granted an awful way, but fascinating nonetheless. For those who don’t know, Michael Franzese was a high up in the Colombo Crime Family, one of the 5 major families in the New York La Cosa Nostra. At one point, he was making 6-10 million dollars in cash A WEEK! He was known as the ‘Yuppie Don”, and over his 15 years in the mob, made well over 300 Million. Long story short, in the 1980’s, he met a young girl from Anaheim who he fell in love with & married. She was a believer and through MANY trials and tribulations, he finally left his life of crime, and now speaks around the country at churches, colleges, Pro sports event, etc. It was fascinating hearing him talk, seeing him live, knowing that he is the first higher up mobster to walk away from that life of crime and still be alive to tell the world about it. His dad is still in prison, at 92 and is scheduled for release next year. He said that the 5 other guys who took their oath along with him, are all dead, and not of natural causes!
He’s written a few books, but the one they were selling Friday night is called Blood Covenant. Mom H and I headed to the dessert straight after the talk, as we were starving, and sadly, by the time we got to the bookstore they were all sold out! We were so bummed as Michael was signing them afterwards. Anyway, I decided to look online at Amazon and found one in good condition for $5.00, instead of $21.00! What a deal! It arrived yesterday…and you’ll never believe it! It’s signed!!!!!!!!!!! It says “Dear Betty”, but who cares!!!!! I just started reading it and it’s very interesting!

On to other news, my folk’s paperwork arrived in CA safe and sound, Praise the Lord!! That includes original birth certificates, original marriage certificate, police clearance etc. We should be submitting it by the end of this week, or beginning of next week.

On Saturday, I got to have a thoroughly enjoyable day! NOT! I was in traffic school. Actually, it probably wouldn’t have been as awful as it was, if I had not been coming down with sinus. I was congested the whole day, with no medication, and my ears were blocked and our instructor (retired cop) had a very thick accent, I had to concentrate SO hard to understand him. I could have fallen asleep several times, but was not willing to get kicked out, which 2 unfortunate teenagers were. I must say, the girl was just asking for it, and I knew it was just a matter of time until she was!

On Friday we leave for Mammoth with 2 other couples. We are all SUPER excited, as it will be a great time to hang out and get to know each other even better. We’re all snowboarding and I’m attempting to carve this time. We’ll see! Watch this space!
I just hope this sinus congestion goes away by then!

My good friend at work is retiring and moving to Apple Valley! I’m soooooooo bummed! She’s my shoulder to cry on, my support and just such a wonderful freind. I don’t like that kind of change! However, I’m going to be doing a horse painting for her, as she LOVES horses, and when I’m done, I’ll post a picture!

I think that’s all for now folks, I’ll love and leave you, as I need to pack up my things and go home and hop straight into bed!!

Kaela's Cake

My youngest niece turned 5 today! We had a b-day party for her on Saturday, at the Laguna Niguel Park. Since my mom is not here yet, my job has become Cake Maker. Thankfully this is the last b-day before hopefully my mom will arrive, as I could REALLY use her help! Kaela called me a few weeks ago to let me know what she wanted. A "Dora' Cake. Noah? I asked, thinking they must have just learnt about him in Sunday School. No! DORA!!!, NOAH???, NOOOOOOOOOO DOOORRRRAAAA!!! Yeah, I can HEAR you, i just don't UNDERSTAND you!!! haha! Ruth wondered who on earth she was yelling at! She thought I must be deaf! Anyway, I thought, easy enough! I googled Dora Cake and came up with a great simple design. However, it helps when you have the right tools! The icing pens were gel and started to run all over Dora's face. Her eyes were droopy, her mouth like a Picassa! I then thought that the eye white should be different to the face white, so used a little yellow. Dora suddenly became Evil Dora w/ Jaundice!!! At my wits end, I called Steve at 11:55PM on Friday night (he was on a guys snowboarding trip) and woke him up! For the first time in our lives, he was asleep before i was! He was very comforting, and said to go and buy some more supplies! No thanks! I'm off to bed! it's midnight!!!!
So, at 7:30am I did get up and went to the store to get the supplies needed to give Evil Dora a face lift!! Well, I will say that the surgery was sucessful! This is not by any means, my finest peice of work, but it delighted my little niece and was worth very minute!!
